American Independence Day with the Shanghai US Consulate

JUCCCE was invited to attend the Shanghai American consulate's celebration of the 239th anniversary of American Independence Day. The theme was "A Night in Hollywood", highlighting American film classics and American cinema food. The event also promoted American agricultural products and cooking, with a cooking seminar given by American chefMarc Murphy. The consular general thanked the attending Chinese government officials and wished for greater cooperation between American organizations and government bodies with their Chinese counterparts.

In a two-part event series, JUCCCE collaborated with Paul and Rob from Trendformers to create a discussion in the Shanghai community revolving around how to define culture in a city. The event culminated in an interactive public graffiti art event at 50 Moganshan Road, near Changhua road.

Craig Monk Speaks at JUCCCE

Olympic bronze medalist in sailing and two-time winner of the America’s Cup Craig Monk spoke to JUCCCErs about his experiences as a world-class sailor in the Shanghai office on June 16th, 2015 . He shared with us the rigorous level of competition associated with high-level sailing, the ingenuity of modern boat design, and the potential for sailing to transform the culture of a city.

June 1st International Kids' Day

On Monday, June 1st, a team of JUCCCErs celebrated International Kids’ Day with a group of 36 local primary school students (黄浦区卢湾一中心小学). We hosted a series of fun activities for the kids on the ‘Eat a Rainbow Every Day’ theme to learn about the health benefits of eating different colored foods.

On Sunday, May 10th, JUCCCErs returned to Sproutworks restaurant to host another activity day with the Daning Mothers' Club. We came prepared with a presentation and gamified activities to teach the kids about our theme: ‘What’s In My Food?’ We had lots of honest and often surprising information for the kids.
